MAGGIE SARAH BAILEY

MAGGIE SARAH BAILEY was born on December 6, 1924 to the late Robert Bailey and Jennie Gunter in Daugherty, VA. She departed this life on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at her home in Accomac, VA. Maggie was educated in the Accomac County school system. She was a field laborer until retirement. Maggie gave her life to the LORD at a young age. She was a lifetime member of St. Luke AME Church. She was a Sunday School teacher and choir member. She believed in having her hair done, hat and stockings on, and her rouge and lipstick applied. She always tell us "your hair is your crown of glory." Maggie, affectionately known as Mother, Moa, Ma Maggie, Miss Maggie, Granny, was loved by all. She was a second mother to many of her grandchildren and even friends of the family. You could talk to her about anything and not be judged and she was always there when you needed her most. Maggie was a compassionate woman who would do what she could for those in need. She was a lover of animals and would always take in the strays no one else wanted. Maggie was married to the late Alfred Bailey Sr. She was preceded in death by her brother, Garnett Poulson; daughters, Oneida and Delores; and sons, Preston, Purnell, and Roland. Maggie leaves to cherish her memories: sons and daughters, Alfred Bailey Jr. of Locustville, VA, Jenni Satchell of Melfa, Va, Sherwood Bailey of Locustville, VA, Fred Poulson of Parksley, VA, Dianne Cooper of Norfolk, VA, Nancy (Kerry) Byrd of Camden, NJ, Doretha Bailey of Accomac, VA, and Ruth Bailey of Boynton Beach, FL; 32 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren; two special cousins, Walter and Mildred Gunter of Philadelphia, PA; five sisters-in-law; a special friend, Catherine Conquest of Locustville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Maggie also had a special love for Pastor and First Lady Reeman (her boy and girl). A special thank you to the Hospice nurses, Hannah and Sadra, and the Intrepid nurses, and aide, Georgina, for the love and care given to our loved one.
