MAE WEST CROPPER

MAE WEST LOFTLAND CROPPER, peacefully answered God’s call from labor to reward on July 6, 2017. She was born on December 19, 1943 to the late Levi and Pansy Loftland who predeceased her. She was educated in the public school system of Accomack County, VA and accepted Christ at an early age at Gaskins Chapel AME Church in Savageville, VA.

Mae was united in Holy Matrimony to Clearance Cropper, Jr. on April 17, 1971. The fun loving couple shared many years of marital bliss until his passing in 1998.

Mae-Mae, as she was affectionately known, worked at several different jobs early in her career but found her passion when she worked for the Hubbards and the Perrys, providing care for their children. She began as an employee, but became a member of their families and remained close to them until her passing.

Mae loved to listen to music, especially old school R&B and Gospel. She enjoyed making tapes for family and friends and looking for deals as an avid thrift store shopper. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Jaccori and Jaelyn. She was thrilled when she learned to text so she could ‘talk’ to the kids the way they talked to each other. She was strong in her faith and always willing to help wherever and whenever she could.

She leaves to celebrate her life: her daughter, Cherylrene Loftland of Landover, MD; her son, Derrick Cropper (Barbara) of Honolulu, HI; 2 grandchildren, Jaccori Scott and Jaelyn Scott of Landover, MD; her brother, Burnice Snead (Ethel) of Camden, NJ; 2 sister-in-laws, Kathaleen Bagwell of Salisbury, MD and Laurine Cropper of Delray, FL; her foster daughter, Sheena Corbin (Elmer) of Temperanceville, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
