RUFUS EDWARD NEDAB

Rufus Edward Nedab, 97, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2019 from cancer at Shore Life Care in Parksley, VA. He was born April 21, 1922 in Daugherty, VA and was the eldest son of Floyd Elmer Nedab and Willie Anna Savage Nedab.

He was known as Rudy by most and wild George by his closet friends. He was educated at Daugherty Elementary School and his favorite subject was Math. He was a walking calculator when it came to money. Rufus joined the Army in 1942 during World War II and was deployed overseas returning home with a honorable discharge. He renewed his connection with St. Luke AME Church the remainder of his adult life.

His work history included several types of jobs having acquired the knowledge and skills in farming. While learning of the family farm, he settled as a crew leader and supervisor in the harvesting, processing and shipping of local agriculture products.

He is survived by his daughter: Gloria Mason Holley of New Jersey; granddaughters: Denize (Eric) Shy of Maryland and Yemiko Palmer of New Jersey; three great-granddaughters: Amanee, Nichell and Nyelle; one great-grandson, Jermiah; two brothers: Rev. Floyd Nedab, Jr (Cornelia) of Portsmouth, VA, and Wilbert Nedab of Norfolk, VA; several nieces, nephews and many extended family members.

In his declining years, he was daily monitored by his oldest niece, Martha White and nephew, Floyd Nedab, III and wife Shirley. Also special recognition for his care taker, Robert Smith until his passing.
