CHARLIE STEWART, JR.

“Sonny” or "Skin", was the son of the late Charlie Stewart Sr. and the late Gladys Stevens Stewart. Sonny was born August 12, 1945 in Onancock, Va. Sonny rested in peace on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Riverside Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, Virginia.

Sonny attended the Accomack County Public Schools for his education. Sonny was employed by Perdue Farms Inc. in Accomac as well as Holly Farms Inc. in Temperanceville as a chicken catcher.

Sonny was a quiet man. Even though he was quiet, he managed to ask Margaret for her hand in marriage. He fell in love and married Margaret Marie “Maree” Matthews. They joined in holy matrimony in July 1970. From this union one daughter (Renee) was born and they reared four boys as his own Noah, Victor, Donald and Clinton. Sonny was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Maree and his son Donald.

Sonny leaves to cherish his memories: daughters, Renee D. Stewart of Onancock and Jacque Baine of Florida; three sons, Noah Matthews (Debbie) of Withams, Victor Matthews (Brenda), Onancock, Clinton Matthews of Richmond. Four sisters Peggy Bassett (Clyde), Elsie Hibbler, Shirley Stewart and Bessie Parker (Fred) all of Onancock; brother Jerry Stewart (Nannie) of Accomac his aunt Catherine Veney, Accomac; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a abundance of nieces, nephews and cousins. Sonny’s special nurse whom he loved and adored, Tanya Savage.
