CATHERINE BAILEY PARKER

CATHERINE BAILEY PARKER was born in Painter, Virginia on May 7, 1926 to the late Jacob and Wavie Kellam Bailey. She quietly departed this life when God called her home on Friday, May 23, 2014 at the age of 89.

Catherine attended the public schools of Accomac County, Virginia. She was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Pungoteague, Virginia where she received her Christian foundation.

Catherine relocated to Yonkers, New York where she met and married Reid Parker. She was employed by Hudson View Nursing Home for over thirty years and regularly attended Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church, Yonkers, NY, where she was an active member until her health declined.

She looked forward to participating in the activities at her neighborhood senior program at Runyan Heights Community Center. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and entertaining in her home.

Catherine leaves to cherish her memories: her sons, Ronnie Reid Parker and Weston Upshur, Jr.; daughters-in-law, Tracey Parker and Karen Boone-Upshur; sisters, Adalaide Bailey and Jane Bailey; brother, Willie Bailey; grandchildren, Melissa Parker and Weston Upshur III, great-granddaughter, Ava Upshur; granddaughter-in-law, Reanna Upshur; God-daughter, Lisa Walker; sisters-in-law, Carrie Bailey and Cora Crawley; brothers-in-law, Victor Parker and Andrew Pinckney; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She is predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Wavie Kellam Bailey; her husband, Reid E. Parker; sisters, Etrula Bailey Pinckney and Evelyn Bailey; brothers, O'Teal Bailey, Jacob Bailey, Jr, Harry Bailey and Roland Bailey Sr.
