WILLIAM EDWARD ALLEN

William “Bill” Edward Allen was the son of the late John and Maggie Hatton Allen. He was born on June 3, 1919 and passed away on May 13, 2013 at the Hartley Hall Nursing Home in Pocomoke City, Md. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Louise Wise Allen, who passed on September 21, 2012.

Bill was educated in the Accomack and Worcester County School systems. He even attended the Sturgis One—Room School. He continued his education through the veteran’s program. He was a World War II veteran. Bill was a mechanic and a car dealer in Pocomoke.

He was well versed on political and current events. He chaffered many people to and out of town, to hospitals and doctor’s appointments.

Bill joined Macedonia A.M.E. church in Accomac, VA at an early age, then married and moved to Maryland where he joined New Macedonia Baptist Church in Pocomoke. He leaves to cherish his memories, 2 daughters, Janice Allen Conquest and Rev. Recie Allen Marshall (Powell), of Stockton, MD; 1 son, Herbert N. Brown of Snow Hill, MD; 1 step-brother, Walter Allen (Eloise) of Baltimore, MD; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grand children, 14 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Bill was also preceded in death by 1 sister, Margaret Allen Mcintosh; 1 half-sister, Jewell Jones; 1 half-brother, Harry Hatton and 1 step-brother, Herbert Kellam.
