ARLENE "NEAT" GODWIN

ARLENE “NEAT” GODWIN, daughter of the late Archie Lee and Samantha Gorman, was born on June 3, 1939 in Ft. Valley, Georgia.

“Neat” as she was affectionately known, was raised in Leesburg, Florida where she graduated from Carver Heights High School and was a dynamic basketball player and cheerleader. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church.

Neat was a resident of Trenton, New Jersey since 1957 which is where she met and later married her beloved Martin.

She retired from Lawrenceville Rehab after 25 faithful years of service as a certified nurse’s aide.

Arlene was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and a great supporter of the Knights of Columbus.

Neat was a fun loving woman with a wonderful sense of humor, but did not hesitate to speak her mind. She loved to travel, have parties with her friends, and go to various casinos.

Arlene “Neat” Godwin departed this life on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis Medical Center. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by seven siblings, Pearline, Daisy Lee, Mittie, Jessie Bell, Archie Mae, Jack and Charles. She leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted husband of 34 years, Martin Godwin of Trenton; three loving sisters, Annie Ruth Riggins, Lizzie Mae Brown and Diane Ferguson, all of Leesburg, FL; sisters-in-law, Venera Godwin, Lillie Mae Turner (Raymond), Larue Godwin, Dordean Schoolfield (George) and Karen Bowen (Bryant Bagwell); one brother-in-law, Edward Godwin (Geneva), two godsons, three goddaughters, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives, and friends.
