TABITHA BAGWELL

Never would’ve made it, I made it through my storm and I passed my test, because you were there to carry me through. TABITHA BAGWELL, was born January 6, 1906, the second child of fifteen to Lorenzo White and Maggie Floyd White. She was the longest liver of them all. She was educated in the public school of Whitesville, VA. In 1923, she met and married Ernest Reed Bagwell and to this union five children were born. Four of them predeceased her, Ernest Jr., Lorenzo, Sam, and Addie Bagwell. Tabitha had one loving and faithful daughter, Maggie Bagwell that did everything for her. She took care of all her earthly needs and beyond. There was not a nursing home or hospital that could have given her any better care than Maggie did. Tabitha was a family person and she loved to have her family around her. It didn’t matter how long you stayed, she would say, “Just stop and say Hello”. She loved to tell old stories of long ago and had a wonderful memory. She could go way back and tell you where she was and what she was doing when things started to change in the world. Her favorite songs were: “Take me back” and “What a friend we have in Jesus”. Tabitha didn’t go to church but she enjoyed listening to preaching and singing on the radio and television. Tabitha and her daughter were known as the porch people. She leaves to cherish her memory one loving daughter, Maggie Bagwell, one sister-in-law Mary Ellen White, one daughter-in-law Stella Bagwell, ten grandchildren, one deceased Anthony (Tony) Bagwell, twenty-five great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephew, and cousins and friends.
