MARGARET SCARBOROUGH GRIFFIN

MARGARET SCARBOROUGH GRIFFIN, better known as Maggie, daughter of the late James Scarborough, Sr. and Elsie Ames Scarborough, was born September 30, 1906 in Northampton County, Virginia. She departed this life January 11, 2012 at Care Pavilion Nursing Home in Philadelphia, PA. Margaret received her education in the Northampton County public schools during the early 1920’s. She and her family moved to Accomack County Virginia where they attended worship services at the Macedonia AME Church in Accomac, VA. After moving to the town of Onancock, Margaret met and married the late John Frank Griffin. After moving to Philadelphia, she worked as a waitress at the Pie Girl restaurant located on 17th Street in South Philadelphia, PA. She was a very special lady and lived over eighty-five years in Philadelphia, PA. All of Margaret’s fifteen brothers and sisters predeceased her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory: A devoted sister-in-law, Lena Scarborough, devoted niece Marilyn Cook, two nephews Samuel Cook and Charles Selden, sister-in-law, Mary Scarborough of Philadelphia, PA and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
