MAZIE HANA FLEMING BAKER

MAZIE HANA FLEMING BAKER, daughter of the late Lee & Flora Fleming, was born on October 22, 1934 in Parksley, VA. She departed this life on November 1, 2014, at Riverside Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, VA.

She was educated in Accomack County Public Schools and gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a member of Metompkin Baptist Church. As a member, Mazie served on the kitchen committee and usher board. She loved to serve her God. Mazie loved to cook and didn’t mind feeding whoever stepped foot in her home. She was loved by many and had a sweet smile that we all will remember. Her family was her priority.

Throughout her lifetime Mazie worked as a CNA, and loved caring for others. She worked at Dr. White’s Nursing Home for thirty years, Arcadia Nursing Home for thirty-five years, Shore Life Care Nursing Home two in a half years and Quail Run until her health began to fail. She was a hard working woman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, five brothers, Avery, Johnny, Alfred, Brook, and George Lee Fleming, and one sister Lucille Fleming. She leaves to cherish her memories; her husband Orris Jack Baker, Sr; four children; Anthony (Nyoka) Baker of Portsmouth, VA; Angie Bailey of Greenbush, VA; Patricia Northan of Parksley, VA; and Orris (Miranda) Baker, Jr of Yorktown, VA; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four sister-in-laws; Rosa Lee Bailey, Daisy Bailey, Francis West all of Parksley, VA and Rachel Baker of Accomac, VA; one brother-in-law, Ross (Rev. Martha) Bailey of Parksley, VA; two nieces, Barbara Hashim of Mount Holly, NJ and Mary White of Parksley, VA, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family would also like to thank Arcadia Nursing Home staff for caring for Mazie, and also would like to thank Caring Touch. A special thanks to Bridgette Kellam for loving, caring and dedicating her time to care for our mother and grandmother. We appreciate all that you did to make her happy in her final days of life.
