BETTY ANN ALLEN
Betty Ann Allen was born on November 4, 1956 in Onley, VA to the late Margie L. Allen and Henry L. Strand. She departed this life on September 26, 2019 after a brief illness at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.
Betty was educated in the Accomack County Public School System and graduated from Onancock High School in Onancock, VA with the class of 1976. After graduating, she relocated to Philadelphia, PA to live with her aunt Bea and family. There she accepted Christ and joined Nazareth Baptist Church at an early age.
She was employed at the F. W. Woolworth Company until her health failed in 1995. Although her health was failing, she continued to care for her mother until her passing.
Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and friends sharing jokes and memories. Her hobbies included knitting, reading and assisting with activities at the Senior Center.
She leaves to mourn, two sisters: Brenda Allen-White of Glenolden, PA and Florine Giddens of Onancock, VA; two brothers: Clifton (Mary) Allen of Philadelphia, PA and Clinton (Jeanette) Strand of Onancock, VA; two aunts: Mattie Sarah Savage and Mary Thomas of Sicklerville, NJ; one uncle: Ernest West of Accomac, VA; a special niece, Kendra White of Newark, DE, special cousins: Ruby Glover, Melvin Drummond and Brandon West and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
