FRANK PETERS

Frank Peters, beloved son of the late Samuel and Emma Peters was born November 10, 1922 in Salisbury, MD. He departed this life at his home in Parksley, VA on May 28, 2019.

Frank received his education in the public schools of Wicomico County MD and was a member of St. Luke AME Church in Daugherty, VA since 1951. He served six decades in various capacities such as chairman of the church’s finance department for many years until he turned 94. During that time there was never a penny off. He was recognized with numerous plaques for his faithful work in the church.

He joined the US NAVY during World War II and for his service he received the Pacific Theater Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal, according to his discharge papers. On March 31, 1945 he was in Okinawa when the Japanese dropped the two atomic bombs. He was honorably discharged in January 1946.

Frank was married to the late Mary Peters for over 38 years and was employed by the Virginia Department of Transportation for 35 years, 4 months, 27 days and 12 hours.

He was preceded in death by nine siblings and leaves to mourn his loss several nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and many friends.
