NORMAN ROY GALLOWAY

Norman Roy Galloway was born on January 5, 1932 in Bessemer, Alabama. He was the fourth child of Fred D. Galloway and Willie Mae Galloway. Norman enlisted in the United States Navy in 1953 and was assigned to the USS Robert DD 823. As a Radioman, he guided the ships until 1955. He later worked for the United States Postal Service in Hempstead, New York until he retired in 1988 and relocated to Snow Hill, Maryland. Norman worked at the Snow Hill Elementary School as a head custodian for 8 years. He was the past master for Doric Lodge 53 in Hempstead, NY. Norman joined Shiloh United Methodist Church in 1988 and actively participated and volunteered in the church and held positions as Chairperson on the Administration Board, a seat on the board of trustees, president of United Methodist men, and worked with the culinary committee. Norman loved fishing, cooking, gardening, and spending time with his family, friends, and colleagues.

Norman departed this life suddenly on December 21, 2018. He will join his son Brian Norman Galloway, daughter Wanda Nora Galloway, brother Fred Galloway and two sisters Jean Richardson and Geraldine Galloway in Heaven.

He leaves the following to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 60 years, Elenore Galloway, sons Todd R. Galloway (wife Shaniena), and Kevin Massey; three grandsons, Creedon and Noah Tompakov, and Kenneth Browne III (wife Editrae Mitra), and granddaughter Tameera, and great-granddaughters Nora and Kayla Browne; nieces, Deborah Richardson, (grand nephew Chris Richardson), Denise Richardson, grand nephew Craig Richardson (Suzane) and children Jacob and Jaiden Richardson.

Norman spoke fondly of the many memories of his family, friends, and colleagues in Snow Hill, Maryland; Hempstead, New York; Bessemer, Alabama; Atlanta, Georgia; Akron, Columbus, and Toledo, Ohio; Denton, Texas; Detroit, and Michigan.
