JANICE MAPP CUSTIS

JANICE MAPP CUSTIS, also known as Jenny, was the beloved daughter of the late James and Odessa Walker. She was born in Burgaw, North Carolina on November 12, 1953. She was raised on the Eastern Shore with nine other siblings. Jenny, as she was called, entered into eternal rest on May 14, 2017, on Mothers Day with a song, “Lord prepare me to be a sanctuary”, sung by Sister Dora West.

Jenny was educated in the public schools of Accomack County and was a member of Abundant Life Faith Church where she accepted God as her Lord and savior.

Jenny’s passion was cooking, cleaning and decorating homes. She was a mother to many wherever she was and the doors of her home was open to anyone that needed a place to sleep along with a full course meal. Her motto was, “Make sure you wash your hands before you touch my food and if you sleep at this house, you are going to get up and take a bath”.

She will be forever missed by many that loved and came in contact with her.
