VIRGINIA M. DRUMMOND
VIRGINIA MAE "MARTINE" GUNTER DRUMMOND, daughter of the late Mary Lena Taylor Gunter and William Henry Gunter, Sr. was born May 31, 1925 in Accomack County, VA. God chose to call Virginia to eternal rest on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 10:30 PM.
Virginia went to Baltimore to be raised by her Aunt Jeanette Washington and be a companion to her cousin Marrian Washington after God called Virginia’s mother home.
“Ginny” as she was affectionally called by family and friends, attended Baltimore City Public schools and graduated from Apex School of Beauty and Hair Styling in 1945. She opened and managed her own business for over 20 years. Later she went into the nursing field where she continued to grow in the skills available, first as a Certified Nursing Assistant, then Medicine Aide and finally as a phlebotomist, always looking for a way to better serve her patients. Virginia married her high school sweetheart in 1941, the late Frank Edward “Eddie” Drummond. Their almost 30 year union produced 2 children, Sylvia E. Drummond and the late Edward C. Drummond.
Virginia loved church and had been a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD for much of her life. When she moved back to the shore, she became active in Gospel Temple Baptist Church. Virginia loved people and people loved her. She volunteered with Eastern Shore Area Agency of Aging/Community Action Agency helping out in the thrift shop in Onancock. She won awards and honorable mention for her efforts.
“Ginny” leaves to mourn: one daughter, Sylvia E. Drummond, one granddaughter, Rochelle A. Drummond, nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.
